The Denver-area housing market dodged the dreaded double dip in housing prices in March, but only by a hair.
  The closely followed S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices released today shows that the Denver-area housing market missed re-visiting the low average price set in February 2009, by a mere 0.28 percent.

Foreclosures 30% of Sales

Foreclosures accounted for just under 30 percent of all Colorado home sales in the first quarter, according to a national report released today.The report by Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac, showed that nationally, 27.5 percent of all home sales in the first three months of the year were foreclosures.  

O'Connor: Spring Housing Market Not So Bad

The Denver-area housing market is not experiencing a terribly slumping spring season, especially considering that the federal tax credits that fueled activity a year ago are no longer in place, Jack O'Connor, an owner of Prestige Realty Services, said today.

Mortgage Applications Increase in Latest MBA Weekly Survey
Mortgage Bankers Association - - Mortgage applications increased 1.1 percent from one week earlier, according to data from the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending May 20, 2011. 

Average rate on 30-year and 15-year loans drop 
Washington Post - - Fixed mortgage rates hit the lowest point of the year for the third straight week. Freddie Mac says the average rate on the 30-year loan fell to 4.60 percent from 4.61 percent.

New-home sales up, but pace remains sluggish 
USA Today - - New-home sales rose 7.3% last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 323,000 homes, the said Tuesday. A normal housing market would mean a pace of about 700,000 new-home sales a month.
