What do the letters after a REALTOR®’s name mean? They proudly show the designations a REALTOR® has earned to further their professional development. To earn a designation, a REALTOR® has taken coursework and demonstrated specific skills, performance and knowledge in a particular area of the real estate industry.

To serve our consumers of today, REALTORS® need to be strong generalists and specialists. Designations are one way practitioners develop specialized skills that help the industry thrive. Designations also help practitioners demonstrate to their clients their commitment to professional development. The National Association of REALTORS® and its institutes, societies and councils offer the highest quality real estate education in the world.

Metro Brokers Littleton Town Centre encourages our Brokers to earn advanced knowledge and skill through one of the advanced NAR memberships specializing in their respective skills. Specialty designations recognize a member's advanced education and experiences in a particular discipline to enhance the Public’s awareness. Many consumers are surprised when they learn how many of our members specialize in real estate services other than just home sales. We want consumers to know that when a special real estate need arises, such as the sale or purchase of investment property, property management, or counseling, they can choose a real estate professional to meet their needs who is well versed in that particular area.

REALTOR® members can earn Professional designations through extra education and proven expertise. NAR recognizes a member's expertise. REALTORS® most commonly list the professional designations they hold by their abbreviated initials on their business cards and other promotional materials.

Currently, 15 percent of all Realtors hold membership in at least one of NAR's affiliates. Of those, 17 percent of all sales agents hold membership in an affiliate, and 28 percent of all brokers hold such a membership.
